Propolis, the bees' strongest weapon
Propolis, often also called putty resin or bee resin, is an active ingredient that has been used by humans as a natural wound healing agent for thousands of years and is still very popular today. Its effectiveness has been scientifically investigated for several decades and confirmed by studies.

The resin-like mass is produced by bees and, when used correctly, has a health-promoting and wound-healing effect.

It is a mixture of many different substances and has antibiotic, antiviral and antimycotic effects, which keeps bacteria, viruses and fungi out of the hive.

How is propolis made?
The basic ingredient of propolis is the resinous substance that honey bees collect from trees such as birch, beech, spruce, poplar and alder. In addition, there is around 30% wax, around 5% pollen and around 10% essential oils from flower buds and saliva secretion. The sticky building material of the bees is often contaminated with tiny pieces of wood. The most common time the bees bring the wax into the hive is in the fall. A bee colony can bring in between 50 and 500 grams of propolis per year.

Effect of propolis
Propolis has a large number of positive properties that vary depending on the composition of the substance. It has a calming and cell-regeneration-promoting effect on the skin, has an antibacterial effect and supports the immune system thanks to the flavonoids it contains. The substance also relieves inflammation and promotes wound healing. It not only has a calming effect on the skin, but also on the psyche. It reduces stress.
